- Games about the history or projected futures of science & technology
- Games with continued or under-appreciated significance that are out-of-print, not widely available, or previously untranslated
- Games with 鈥渟erious鈥 or transformational goals (including educational games)
- Games about Pittsburgh & the Greater Allegheny Region
- Games that build on the unique collections & resources of CMU
- Games designed by or in collaboration with CMU faculty, staff, and alumni
How to Submit to the Game Series
The CMU Press Games series accepts submissions through:
- Solicitation: Soliciting game draft and manuscript submissions that match our editorial mission and publishing priorities.
- Open Calls: Our game design journal Promptuary will release an annual open call (Call for Submissions) for games. While these open calls will be for short games that fit the annual theme of the journal, we hope to expand our open calls to include longer, individually published games in the future.
- Unsolicited Inquiries: Designers are welcome to reach out to series editors to inquire about our interest in publishing their games. Unsolicited submissions are always welcome, but the timeline of our initial review process will be determined by the number of submissions, worker availability, and our overall capacity.听
Those interested in proposing a game for the series should contact series editors Jonathan Walton (CMU Entertainment Technology Center) and Ashley Werlinich (CMU Libraries).
