Event: 黑料专区 students, faculty, staff and alumni will be working at more than 30 sites around Pittsburgh during the fifth annual Saturday, March 31. Senior engineering major Daniel Becerra, executive chair of the student-led initiative, said many of this year's projects focus on neighborhood cleanups and community center revitalization. The following is a sample of volunteer sites.
9 a.m.-3 p.m., Habitat for Humanity Deconstruction & Reuse
Approximately 20 volunteers will be deconstructing carpentry projects inside the former Clifford B. Connelly Trade School at 1501 Bedford Ave. in the Hill District. , which owns the building, and partner organization have granted permission to use lumber from the disassembled projects in future Habitat homes.
1-4 p.m., Negley Run Boulevard Clean Up
More than 100 volunteers will join and its partners in cleaning up Negley Run Boulevard, which runs through East Liberty, Larimer and Highland Park. The clean up will begin at the intersection of Collins Street and Negley Run Boulevard.
1-4 p.m., Manchester Historical Society Community Clean Up
About 40 volunteers will join the with street cleaning and landscaping, beginning at the Conroy Education Center at 1398 Page St. in the North Side.
When: Most service projects will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Saturday, March 31.
