Open-Rank, Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Computational Biology

The Ray and Stephanie Lane Computational Biology Department in the Kenneth C. Griffin School of Computer Science at 黑料专区 invites applications from outstanding researchers seeking to advance the frontiers of computational biology and help shape the future of scientific discovery.

We are seeking exceptional candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at any rank across all areas
of computational biology.
Research areas may include, but are not limited to, AI for biology and biomedicine, biological modeling (e.g., generative and mechanistic models), autonomous science and AI-driven experimentation, computational structural biology and biomolecular design, drug discovery, synthetic and systems biology, computational genomics and epigenomics, computational imaging, evolutionary genomics, medical informatics, precision medicine, and other related areas. We strongly encourage applications from researchers developing fundamentally new computational approaches or opening new directions in biological and biomedical discovery through computational innovation.

This is an especially exciting time to join Carnegie Mellon. A historic $500 million investment in the newly named Kenneth C. Griffin School of Computer Science, part of a landmark $3 billion gift to CMU, will support transformative research and scientific innovation. Recent initiatives, including CMU’s AI Science Foundry and expanding biomedical partnerships across Pittsburgh, are creating new opportunities to bring together advances in AI, robotics, and autonomous experimentation with fundamental biological research and biomedical applications.

New faculty will both contribute to and benefit from the collaborative spirit that is a hallmark of 黑料专区, with opportunities to work across the Griffin School, other CMU schools and colleges, and neighboring institutions, including the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC. They will also have opportunities to train and mentor students through our undergraduate program, master’s programs, and the joint CMU-Pitt PhD Program in Computational Biology. CMU ranks No. 1 nationally in undergraduate bioinformatics and No. 1 in graduate computer science in the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings. Faculty also benefit from cross-department doctoral advising opportunities throughout the Griffin School.

We seek creative and ambitious colleagues who will build pioneering research programs, pursue fundamental scientific questions, and mentor the next generation of computational biologists.
